Her professional journey has equipped her with specialist experience in working with individuals with learning disabilities, neurodivergent profiles (including Autism and ADHD), and those affected by childhood trauma. She has extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in safeguarding, child protection, children in need, and supporting looked after children.
In her role as a Supervising Social Worker for fostering services, Lucy has supported foster carers through reflective supervision, safe care planning, matching processes, and training delivery. She is skilled in advocacy, the EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) process, and is highly familiar with the SEND Code of Practice. Her work is informed by both the Children Act and the Care Act legislation, and she regularly undertakes assessments of social care needs to ensure individuals and families receive the appropriate support.
She has an in-depth understanding of key legislation including the Children Act 1989, Care Act 2014, SEND Code of Practice, and EHCP process, and she frequently undertakes social care needs assessments for children and adults.
Why Lucy chose Social Work as a career?
From an early stage in her academic journey, Lucy was drawn to the complexity and resilience of human behaviour, which she explored deeply during her Psychology degree. This naturally led her to Social Work, a profession where she could combine her curiosity, empathy, and drive to support others in meaningful, tangible ways. Her passion for safeguarding, advocacy, and systemic change was further fuelled by her work with vulnerable children and families, especially those navigating trauma, neurodivergence, and complex social circumstances.
Lucy is deeply motivated by her ability to make a difference in people’s lives. She brings a creative, trauma-informed, and rights-based approach to her work, always striving to ensure that every individual feels heard, protected, and empowered.
Lucy brings a strong value base to her practice, believing that everyone deserves to be heard, supported, and empowered.
