ADHD Assessment for Children & Adults
ADHD Assessments for Children, Young People and Adults
Lycali provides comprehensive, neuroaffirming ADHD assessments for children and adults. Our assessments are designed to help you understand attention, executive functioning, emotional regulation, strengths, support needs and whether diagnostic criteria for ADHD are met.
We use structured clinical assessment, developmental history, standardised questionnaires, informant information and functional evidence to build a clear picture of how ADHD may be affecting everyday life.
Is an ADHD Assessment Right for Me or My Child?
ADHD can affect attention, organisation, planning, impulse control, emotional regulation, time management, motivation, restlessness and day-to-day functioning. It can present differently in children and adults, and many people mask or compensate for difficulties for years.
Children
May experience difficulties with focus, listening, organisation, emotional regulation, impulsivity, restlessness, learning, friendships or behaviour across home and school.
Adults
May experience overwhelm, procrastination, disorganisation, emotional dysregulation, time blindness, burnout, impulsive decisions or difficulties managing work and daily life.
Not Sure?
Our free screening questionnaires can help you consider whether a full ADHD assessment may be beneficial.
Free ADHD Screening Questionnaires
Screening questionnaires are not diagnostic, but they can help identify whether further assessment may be worth considering.
Child ADHD Screening
For parents and carers considering whether a child may benefit from a full ADHD assessment.
Start ScreeningAdult ADHD Screening
For adults exploring whether attention, organisation, impulsivity, restlessness or executive functioning difficulties may be linked to ADHD.
Start ScreeningAutism & ADHD
Many people experience both autism and ADHD traits. Where appropriate, a combined assessment pathway may be recommended.

What Happens During the Assessment?
Our team reviews your enquiry and guides you to the most appropriate ADHD assessment pathway.
You will complete forms about developmental history, attention, organisation, impulsivity, emotional regulation and daily functioning. For children, educational setting information may also be requested.
Children and young people may complete a Young DIVA-based assessment. Adults usually complete a DIVA-5 clinical interview exploring ADHD symptoms across childhood and adulthood.
Clinicians consider questionnaire responses, informant information, school or workplace information, functional impact and clinical presentation.
Clinicians review the evidence, provide feedback, explain whether diagnostic criteria are met and produce a comprehensive report with recommendations.
Who Attends?
Child ADHD Assessment
A parent or caregiver usually attends the developmental and ADHD interview. The child or young person may attend part or all of the appointment where appropriate.
Adult ADHD Assessment
The adult being assessed attends the clinical interview. Where possible, an informant who knew them in childhood may provide helpful additional information.
School or Workplace Input
For children and young people, we may request school information. For adults, workplace or education examples may help demonstrate functional impact.
Common Questions
Can ADHD look different in girls and women?
Yes. ADHD may be less visibly hyperactive and may present as internal restlessness, emotional overwhelm, masking, perfectionism, disorganisation, anxiety or burnout.
Can someone have both autism and ADHD?
Yes. Autism and ADHD can co-occur. If both profiles appear relevant, a combined autism and ADHD assessment may be more appropriate.
Does Lycali prescribe ADHD medication?
No. Lycali does not prescribe ADHD medication. If medication is being considered, you may need to speak with your GP or an appropriately qualified prescribing clinician.
After Diagnosis: Support That Makes Sense
A diagnosis can help make sense of lifelong experiences, but support afterwards is often just as important. Lycali offers post-diagnostic support to help individuals and families understand ADHD, build executive functioning strategies, support emotional regulation and navigate education or workplace adjustments.

Why we’re not a Right to Choose provider
-
Our priority is delivering gold-standard, neuro-affirming Autism and ADHD assessments with the highest level of clinical quality. We know many families and adults consider the NHS Right to Choose pathway, so we want to clearly explain why we choose not to operate under this system and how this benefits the people we support.
Our decision is rooted in ensuring fast turnaround times, compliance, and neuroaffirmative high-quality care.
-
While NHS Right to Choose can be helpful, waiting times are often long — commonly 6–18 months, depending on location and service capacity.
By remaining independent, Lycali offers:
Shorter waiting times (often weeks, not months)
Flexible appointment options
Direct self-referral, with no GP referral required
This means quicker answers and earlier access to meaningful support.
-
All Lycali assessments follow NICE guidance and use validated tools such as:
ADOS-2
ADI-R
DIVA-5 / Young DIVA
ACE / ACE+
We allow the time needed for thorough, multidisciplinary assessment, so clients feel listened to — not rushed.
-
Because our assessments meet NHS-equivalent clinical standards, Lycali reports are recognised by:
NHS and GP services
Schools and SENCO teams
Local authorities (including EHCP processes)
Employers and workplace adjustments teams
Your assessment is designed to travel with you and support you across settings.
-
All assessments at Lycali are delivered by fully qualified, registered clinicians, including:
HCPC-registered Clinical Psychologists
GMC-registered Paediatricians
HCPC-registered Speech & Language Therapists or Occupational Therapists
We do not use trainees or non-clinical staff to carry out diagnostic assessments. This ensures clinical integrity, consistency, and reports that stand up to educational, medical, and legal scrutiny.
