Psychotherapist

About Stuart

Stuart is an Integrative Accredited Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Clinical Supervisor with over 20 years of experience supporting children, young people, adults, families and professionals across public, private and educational settings.

He specialises in complex trauma, including emotional and physical abuse, attachment difficulties, loss, emotional regulation, anxiety and depression. Stuart brings a rich blend of Integrative, Humanistic, Psychodynamic and CBT approaches, alongside Play and Creative Therapies and neurological psycho-educative frameworks to his clinical work.

Stuart has led high-impact therapeutic services for Looked After Children, managed and supervised school-based counselling teams, and provided therapeutic support and consultation to frontline professionals including NHS staff, Police, Foster Carers and Social Workers. He is recognised for his ability to create safe, nurturing and empathic spaces that strengthen communication, deepen self-awareness and promote healthier relational patterns within both individuals and groups.

Why Stuart chose psychotherapy and trauma work as a career

Throughout his career, Stuart has been particularly drawn to supporting individuals who have experienced adversity, trauma and relational disruption. His work with Looked After Children and vulnerable young people strengthened his belief that compassionate, trauma-informed intervention can significantly alter life trajectories.

He is passionate about creating spaces where individuals feel genuinely heard, understood and emotionally safe. Stuart values the depth and richness of integrative practice, allowing him to tailor therapeutic approaches to the unique needs of each person rather than adopting a one-size-fits-all model.

His extensive experience working alongside fostering agencies and multi-disciplinary professionals means he understands systemic pressures and the importance of collaborative, reflective and ethically grounded practice.
