How Workplace Needs Assessments Can Transform Success at Work
Introducing Lycali’s New Workplace Support Service…
At Lycali, we have always been committed to supporting individuals with neurodivergence, long-term health conditions, and mental health needs to thrive in education, daily life, and beyond. As our service has grown, so too has the demand for accessible, supportive, and personalised help within the workplace. We are delighted to introduce our Workplace Support Service, designed to empower individuals and employers to create healthier, more inclusive working environments.
This service includes Workplace Needs Assessments, personalised recommendations, and guided support through the Access to Work scheme, a government-funded initiative that helps people get or stay in work through practical, financial support.
Why Workplace Support Matters More Than Ever
Millions of people in the UK live with neurodivergence, chronic health conditions, or disabilities that can make daily working life more challenging. Yet, with the right adjustments and support in place, individuals can thrive and employers benefit from improved wellbeing, higher retention, and increased productivity.
However, many people don’t know:
what adjustments they’re entitled to,
what support is available,
or how to access schemes like Access to Work.
That’s where we come in.
What Is a Workplace Needs Assessment?
A Workplace Needs Assessment is a holistic and personalised review carried out by a trained professional. It looks at:
the employee’s strengths and challenges
their job role and daily tasks
the physical, sensory, and social environment
any barriers affecting performance, confidence, or wellbeing
From this, we create a clear, tailored report that includes practical recommendations such as:
reasonable adjustments
communication or organisational strategies
assistive technology
environmental changes
support worker or job coaching needs
These recommendations can be used internally with employers, or externally to support applications like Access to Work.
What Is Access to Work and How We Help
Access to Work is a UK government grant scheme that offers financial support for people with a disability, health condition, or neurodivergence that affects them at work. It can fund things such as:
specialist equipment
coaching or support workers
travel to work
mental health support plans
adaptations or assistive technology
communication support
However, the application process can feel overwhelming. Many people don’t know how to evidence their needs or what to ask for.
At Lycali, we guide individuals through the entire process. We help identify what support is appropriate, ensure the Workplace Needs Assessment aligns with job responsibilities, and assist with preparing and submitting the application.
How Employers Benefit Too
Supporting staff isn’t just about compliance, it’s about culture, connection, and creating a workplace where everyone can succeed.
Employers working with us can expect:
clearer understanding of employee needs
support with reasonable adjustments
improved wellbeing and performance
reduced sickness and turnover
a more inclusive, neuro-affirming workplace
It also sends a strong message that the organisation values its people.
Our Commitment to Quality: CQC Registration Underway
We are proud to share that Lycali is currently in the process of registering with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the regulated aspects of our practice. This step further strengthens our commitment to delivering safe, ethical, and effective services.
As we grow, we remain rooted in our values:
✨ Compassion
✨ Individualisation
✨ Evidence-based practice
✨ Neuro-affirming support
