LYCALI POST-DIAGNOSTIC SUPPORT
Navigate Pathway
Post-diagnostic psychoeducation for children
and young people aged 7+.
Helping your child understand their
neurodivergent profile, recognise
their strengths, develop confidence
and discover practical strategies
that support everyday life.
Welcome to the Navigate Pathway
Receiving a neurodevelopmental diagnosis
can bring greater understanding, but
it can also raise questions about
what the diagnosis means and
what happens next.
The Lycali Navigate Pathway is a
structured, clinician-led
psychoeducation programme
developed to support children,
young people and their families
following a diagnosis.
Support is neuro-affirming,
strengths-based and personalised.
Rather than trying to change
who your child is, we focus on
understanding their individual
experiences and identifying
support that works for them.
Seven Sessions in Total
The children's Navigate Pathway
includes one initial parent/carer-only
appointment, followed by six
personalised clinician-led sessions.
The programme is guided by Lycali's
L.Y.C.A.L.I. Framework, with activities
and strategies adapted to your
child's age, understanding,
communication preferences
and individual needs.
Important: Before Your First Session
All required registration,
consent and pre-session
questionnaires must be completed
before any Navigate session
can take place.
Please read the welcome letter,
terms and conditions and invoice
carefully, and complete the
requested documentation
before the first appointment.

Initial Parent/Carer Appointment
The first Navigate appointment
is for parents or carers only.
Your child does not attend
this initial appointment.
This provides an opportunity

diagnosis, individual strengths,
daily experiences, current
support and family priorities.
The appointment may include:
- Discussing your child's diagnosis and what it means.
- Exploring strengths, interests and preferences.
- Understanding sensory, emotional and communication needs.
- Discussing home and educational experiences.
- Identifying areas where additional support may help.
- Agreeing meaningful goals for the programme.

practical strategies.
Each theme provides

and strategies to suit
your child's individual
profile and goals.
7
Six Personalised Navigate Sessions
Following the initial
parent/carer appointment,
your child will take part
in six clinician-led
psychoeducation sessions.
Sessions use discussion,
reflection, creative activities
and practical strategies
suited to your child's
age and communication needs.
Sessions may help your child:
- Understand their diagnosis in an affirming way.
- Recognise strengths and individual differences.
- Identify emotions and early signs of overwhelm.
- Understand sensory preferences and helpful adjustments.
- Explore communication and friendships.
- Develop practical routines and organisational strategies.
- Understand and communicate their needs.
- Build confidence, choice and independence.
Who Should Attend?
Your child or young
person will usually
participate in these
sessions, with parent/carer
involvement where
appropriate.
Attendance and participation
will be agreed with
the clinician based
on the child's age,
needs and preferences.
As your child progresses
through Navigate, they
will be supported to
develop a personalised
Navigate Passport.
The Passport brings
together what your child
has learned about themselves
and the strategies they
find most helpful.
The Passport may include:
- Things I enjoy and am good at.
- How I like to communicate.
- My sensory preferences.
- Things that help me feel comfortable and regulated.
- What I find difficult and what helps.
- My preferred routines and learning strategies.
- How others can support me.
- My goals and hopes for the future.
The Passport is intended
to be a practical and
meaningful resource
for your child and family.
With appropriate consent,
information from it may
help communicate helpful
strategies to schools,
family members or
other professionals.
Between-Session Resources
Your clinician may provide
worksheets, reflection
activities or other
helpful resources
between sessions.
Any digital companion
tools will be introduced
when available and
appropriate. Navigate
remains clinician-led
and does not depend
on app access.
9
Progress Review & Clinician Summary
Towards the end of
the Navigate Pathway,
your clinician will
review the goals
identified at the
start of the programme.
Parents/carers may
be asked to complete
a follow-up questionnaire
to reflect on changes
and progress.
Any required follow-up
questionnaires will
be issued through WriteUpp.
The review may consider:
- Changes in self-understanding and confidence.
- Progress towards individual goals.
- Strategies your child finds useful.
- Changes in everyday functioning or participation.
- Remaining challenges or unmet needs.
- Adjustments or ongoing support that may help.
Clinician Summary Report
Your clinician will
prepare an end-of-programme
summary outlining the
main themes explored,
individual goals,
progress made and
recommended next steps.
The summary will be
shared with the
appropriate parent/carer
or young person in
accordance with consent
and information-sharing
arrangements.
