L.Y.C.A.L.I Discovery for ages 7–12

My needs-led check-in

Answer 15 short questions about school, home, friends and everyday life. Your answers can help the adults supporting you understand what feels easy, what feels hard and what may help.

This check-in is for children aged 7–12. It is best completed together with a parent, carer or another trusted adult. The child’s own views and words should guide the answers. Answers are scored only on this page and are not submitted to Lycali or stored by the check-in.

Think about approximately the last three months.
  • 0 - Not hard for me
  • 1 - Sometimes hard
  • 2 - Often hard
  • 3 - Very hard or gets in the way

Would you like a fuller understanding of the child’s needs?

Lycali offers a full Child Discovery Needs Profile analysis and consultation for £199. This explores the child’s strengths, the context behind their answers, barriers at home and school, and the support or adjustments that may help.

A parent or carer will normally arrange and take part in the consultation. The child’s views, communication preferences and goals remain central throughout.

If you contact us, please take a screenshot of this outcome and share it with the Lycali team. Answers are not stored or sent to us automatically, so the screenshot will help us understand the result received.

Important: the L.Y.C.A.L.I Discovery Check-In for ages 7–12 is an informal needs-identification tool. It is not a diagnostic assessment or validated diagnostic screener, and it cannot diagnose or rule out autism, ADHD, dyslexia or any other condition. A diagnosis can be helpful in some circumstances, but a child should not have to wait for a diagnosis or assessment before their needs are understood and appropriate support is considered. If anything in the questions or outcome causes concern, the child should speak with a parent, carer, teacher or another trusted adult. This page is not monitored for urgent concerns. If the child or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or attend A&E. For urgent mental health help when there is no immediate danger, use NHS 111 and select the mental health option.
